Inscription reads: This ball is erected here as it resembles bowling in a Paul Bunyan way. This famous land clearing ball, developed by S.L. "Red" Wixson was used for knocking down 16,000 acres of timber on the Hungry Horse Reservoir in Montana and many more acres in other parts of the United States and Canada.
